The UAE Cabinet has declared the issuance of a 5-year multiple-entry Tourist Visa for all nationalities visiting the United Arab Emirates.

The decision, which is expected to have a major impact regionally and globally, was announced during a meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

According to Sheikh Mohammed, the visa will establish the UAE as a “major global tourism destination” and it will be launched within the coming 4 months.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed in his tweet stated that the UAE had decided the change to the Tourist Visa system under which the validity of the Tourist Visa has been extended to 5 years with multiple-entry benefits for all countries. 

Presently, tourists from some countries could get a 30-day visa on arrival at the airport and a 10-day grace period. It includes tourists from Australia, Britain, Ireland, China, and Hong Kong, and others.

European tourists from the Schengen Area will get a visa for 90-day. This includes the EU members South Korea, Russia, and Argentina and Brazil, and others.

While some of the countries require paid-for visas, costing, for example, a tourist will need to spend $10 for 48-hours or $30 for 96-hours and $90 for 30 days. This includes Pakistan, India and the Philippines among others. Sheikh Mohammed stated:

“We want 2020 to be a year of development, growth, and competition with leading countries in economy, competitiveness, and wellbeing.”

The UAE is a popular tourist destination and it wants to establish itself as a big international tourist destination. According to the statistics, over 21 million tourists visit the UAE each year.
