On March 24, Saskatchewan, a landlocked Canadian province, held a new draw, inviting immigration applicants to apply for a provincial nomination. Through the Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand streams, Saskatchewan invited promising immigrants.
All the candidates who may be eligible for a nomination from the SINP (Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program) receive invitations, particularly from the category of International Skilled Worker. Of those candidates who are invited, about 183 may be qualified for the SINP’s Express Entry sub-category, and through the Occupations In-Demand sub-category, 235 may be nominated.
Irrespective of the stream, to be invited applicants required an EOI (Expression of Interest) score of a minimum of 70. They also required Educational Credential Assessments (ECA) to show their international education was equivalent to the Canadian standard. To get qualified, they also required work experience in any of the 78 in-demand occupations listed on the government webpage. The following are some of the eligible occupations.
- Medical laboratory technicians
- Social workers
- Educational counselors
Occupations In-Demand Sub-Category Overview
An Occupations In-Demand sub-category is for candidates who do not have an Express Entry profile. This stream is for highly skilled workers with experience in one of the in-demand occupations in Saskatchewan, who do not yet have an employment offer.
If you want to apply for Canadian immigration under this sub-category, you need to create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile through the online application system of SINP (Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program).
The EOI system of Saskatchewan enables the province to pick applicants that can grow in the province. All the applicants will be evaluated based on their work experience, language ability, education, age, and relations to the province to show their potential to settle in Saskatchewan.
Based on the SINP’s international skilled worker points assessment grid, they are given a score out of 100. Then the top-scoring applicants are issued an ITA (invitation to apply) for a provincial nomination for Canadian PR.
About The Express Entry Sub-Category
The Express Entry sub-category is an improved form of PNP, meaning it is associated with the federal Express Entry system. Express Entry handles the candidates pool for the following three important economic-class immigration programs of Canada:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
- Canadian Experience Class
Also, applicants with Express Entry profiles need to create EOI profiles to be deemed for an ITA for a provincial nomination.
All the EE (Express Entry) Candidates who obtain a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan are given extra 600 points toward their CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score at the federal level. Moreover, they are guaranteed an invitation to apply for Canadian PR (permanent residence).
